ABOUT THE AUTHOR
For nearly 30 years, the author has had experience in many areas of education, as both a teacher and an administrator. Broad life experience in numerous other areas adds to that. Here is a partial listing of the author’s education experience:
•Teacher and administrator at the Elementary, Middle School, and High School levels. Worked in multiple schools and school districts in two states. Certificated and taught at California Community Colleges.
•Certificated as both a teacher and administrator in multiple subject matter and administrative areas.
•Masters degree in Educational Administration.
•Taught classes partially including Social Studies (history, government, economics), Mathematics, Writing, English as a Second Language (ESL), Life Skills, Basic Computer, Keyboarding, Cinema, Latin, Recorder (the musical instrument), Driver Education (classroom), Driver Training (behind the wheel), certified as a Motorcycle Safety Foundation Instructor, and others.
•Designed and conducted animal behavior modification classes at multiple schools and venues.
•Designed and taught accredited classes not previously offered, including at the community college level.
•Designed and taught non-credit community services classes for adults at multiple schools and colleges.
•Provided leadership and design work for a charter school conversion proposal.
•Spearheaded obtaining accreditation for a previously unaccredited school, just the second school to obtain accreditation in its district at the time.
•Designed and taught private group, as well as one-on-one classes and courses.
•Presenter at multiple conferences, colloquia, churches, and seminars.
•Named an Outstanding Options Teacher, for CCEA [in former] District XI in California.
•Broad and extensive life experience outside of education has additionally helped the author to see this situation from afar, as it really is today: broken, and seemingly unfixable. That additional experience only very partly includes service in both the U.S. Army (enlisted) and the U.S. Navy (officer).
